Finneytown High School will explore uncharted territory this winter when it presents the student version of LES MISÉRABLES. This powerful tale is a story of hope, redemption, and love. Epic, grand and uplifting, LES MISÉRABLES packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences all over the world.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $8 for students.

FMPA invites you to enjoy unlimited spaghetti dinner by LaRosa’s, desserts donated by your neighbors, and entertainment by Finneytown’s finest musicians. On Friday, January 31st from 5-7PM, the Multipurpose Room is transformed into an Italian restaurant and nightclub. Take it easy, feed the family cheaply, and get a great parking place for the Finneytown High School theatre production of LES MISÉRABLES, which follows at the William Swartzel Performing Arts Center. Message from Gracepoint Church

Dear View Place Neighbors,

Just stopping by to say an official 'Happy New Year' to everyone.  As some of you may know, my wife our two boys and I came to Finneytown & the view place community several months ago this year to assume the new pastoral role at Grace Point Church here in the view place community.  in the short time that we have been here we have so enjoyed meeting so many of you as we are getting adjusted.  I want to thank Joe Gorman and the other members of the civic association for be-friending me.

We were so excited to be a small part of helping families in our community during this holiday season, and now that things are a bit more in order, we are preparing to launch some great community programs in 2014!

We pray the best for all in this New Year

Neighborhood News

Beverly Dean, daughter of Jeff and Lyn Dean on View Place Dr., graduated from Alaska Pacific University on December 14th, 2013. She earned a bachelors in education. Jeff and Lyn just returned from Anchorage where they attended the graduation and had all kinds of other fun!

Jake Garrett, son of Katie and Aaron Garrett, is our new Hilltop News Carrier.  Hilltop News is an invaluable means to stay connected to the community. Following in the footsteps of previous neighborhood carriers, he would appreciate your support and  call Hilltop to subscribe to the newspaper. As you know, it's challenging doing the collection around the neighborhood.  Some kids in other neighborhoods have shorter walks, sidewalks, and densely populated routes.  So when our View Place kids take on this responsibility to collect, show your support by saying hello and being patient.

Volunteers Needed for Flower Boxes with Decorations

Dear Neighbors,

The flower boxes around the neighborhood have been maintained by a handful of neighbors.  During the holiday season, I am requesting that a volunteer step up to maintain a flower box near their intersection and do the following during the holidays.  Currently, we need 10 volunteers to maintain the boxes for the holidays.

1) Carefully remove and roll up the ribbon neatly to recycle for next year.  The ribbons are expensive to replace, but they are durable and will last if care is used in storing.

2)  Remove the "greenery" and decorative bulbs and put in a container until after Thanksgiving.

3) The weekend following Thanksgiving, take the contents out of your container to decorate the boxes.

4)  If you have any questions, contact Viewplacenews@yahoo.com or 821-5714.

Position Openings for Springfield Twp.

Springfield Township Police Department
Positioned To Hire Top Cops In The Region
Now Hiring Part and Full-Time Officers

(June 3, 2013 Springfield Township, Hamilton County, OH) The Springfield Township Board of Trustees and staff have long placed a high priority on the need and value for quality long-range planning efforts involving all aspects of Township operations and endeavors. This, combined with making difficult decisions, adopting fiscally responsible budgets and developing a number of innovative programs and solutions have allowed the Township to remain sustainable during the recent economic and housing crisis and have positioned the community well to address the continual future challenges it will face.

Organizational, policy and operational modifications in the Township's Police Department are representative of actions that are taking place in all Township departments in order to meet the Board's goal of delivering the highest level of service to residents and business in the most effective and efficient manner.

The Police Department is now positioned to hire part and full-time officers as a result of a number of recent retirements in the Department. Recruiting is now underway in a search for top talent.

Police Chief Dave Heimpold hopes to acquire a long list of highly qualified candidates to interview for various vacant positions. At full-staff, the department operates with 46 officers, which makes it the third largest law enforcement agency in Hamilton County. "We serve the community with the highest level of service and have been successful in finding innovative ways to secure long-term stability of the department. We have incurred a number of retirements over the past few months which now places openings for experienced officers " explains Heimpold.

As one of the leading police departments in the state, Springfield Township operates a full-serviceforce. The department employs, promotes and trains top detectives, traffic patrol, drug enforcement, school resource and K-9 officers. Unlike smaller cities and most townships, Springfield Township does not contract with the county for service. Chief Heimpold explains, "We offer mutual aid services to surrounding communities whenever assistance is requested and/or an officer with a specialized area of expertise is requested."

Township officials instill a dedication to training in the Department. Trustee Tom Bryan reflects, "We want the best, so we train them to be the best." This philosophy is shared among the entire department. Interim Assistant Chief Rick Bley is the fourth in the department to be recently accepted into the elite FBI National Academy. The ten-week program, held in Quantico, Virginia,is a professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement leaders that serves to improve the executive and administrative skills in police departments. Participation is by invitation only, through a nomination process. In 1983 Springfield Township Police Chief David Heimpold graduated from this nationally acclaimed program, followed by Lt. David Schaefer in 2000 and Assistant Chief Robert Browder in 2006.

The agency underwent its sixth accreditation review by Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in March, 2013. Upon an extensive review process, the Police Chief was notified that the department was recommended for full reaccreditation and has also been recommended to receive an Award of Excellence, the highest award, awarded by CALEA. The reaccreditation and Award of Excellence will be determined by the Commission and awarded following a hearing before the Commission during the CALEA Conference and Awards Banquet on August 3, 2013.

Applications are currently being accepted at the Springfield Township Police Department thru 5:00p.m. on June 14th. Experienced officers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen and 21 years of age or older by the time of appointment; be a High School Graduate or GED equivalent, possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by Springfield Township's Insurance Company. Springfield Township will create and consider two separate candidate classes for the positions; (Class 1) Candidates with OPOTA certification with full-time police service experience with a department or (Class 2), part-time officer candidates with O.P.O.T.A. certification by the time of appointment, who have no full time police service. Any candidate in Class 1 will not be required to take a written entrance exam. All Class 2 candidates will be required to take a written entrance examination on June 27th at 6:00 p.m. Candidates will undergo a physical fitness assessment and oral /medical /psychological and polygraph (CVSA) examinations. There is a $20.00 administrative fee for processing applications and test fees for part-time applicants. Detailed information will be provided to applicants after the applications are submitted. MINORITIES AND WOMEN ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY. Springfield Township is an equal opportunity employer.

Applications and detailed information can be found at www.springfieldtwp.org/jobs.cfm.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR GREAT AMERICAN CLEAN UP!

Your help is greatly needed for Springfield Township's twelfth annual community cleanup on Saturday, May 11th. Consider gathering a group of friends, co-workers or scouts together and make an impact on this one day, community-wide initiative.

This year a major effort will be placed on cleaning one of our most heavily traveled roads, Hamilton Avenue and on replacing trees that were lost to the Emerald Ash Borer insects. Over 300 saplings will be planted in Brentwood Park and we need your help. We will also focus our attention to cleaning many of the creek waterways in our parks. Other projects include picking up litter, planting flowers and making this community an even more beautiful place to live and work!

A current list of projects that will be completed on May 11th can be found online atwww.springfieldtwp.org/greatamericancleanup.cfm. Additional projects may be added to this list.

Register as a volunteer today online! The online registration will allow you to easily register yourself or a group of volunteers. (Names not needed - only the total number of volunteers are required.)

There are two check-in locations for volunteering, the main Springfield Township Fire Station at 9150 Winton Road and the Pleasant Run Farms neighborhood swim club.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of the Pleasant Run Farms projects, check-in is at the pool at 8:30 a.mAll other volunteers should check in at the fire station located at 9150 Winton Road anytime between 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Both locations will include a light breakfast and a free Great American Cleanup t-shirts (while supplies last). Volunteers will work from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

To make the greatest impact, our goal to have 150 volunteers out in the community for three hours. With your help, this goal will be achievable and YOU can make the difference!

Supplies provided at check-in will include trash bags, directions and plastic gloves. Please bring your own work gloves. Litter sticks, shovels and rakes would be helpful.

*We will work in light rain. If there is heavy rain, we ask that volunteers check in at regular time, pick up supplies and select a project. In this case, volunteers can complete their project within the week and report their results to the Township by Monday, May 20th .
