VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR GREAT AMERICAN CLEAN UP!

Your help is greatly needed for Springfield Township's twelfth annual community cleanup on Saturday, May 11th. Consider gathering a group of friends, co-workers or scouts together and make an impact on this one day, community-wide initiative.

This year a major effort will be placed on cleaning one of our most heavily traveled roads, Hamilton Avenue and on replacing trees that were lost to the Emerald Ash Borer insects. Over 300 saplings will be planted in Brentwood Park and we need your help. We will also focus our attention to cleaning many of the creek waterways in our parks. Other projects include picking up litter, planting flowers and making this community an even more beautiful place to live and work!

A current list of projects that will be completed on May 11th can be found online atwww.springfieldtwp.org/greatamericancleanup.cfm. Additional projects may be added to this list.

Register as a volunteer today online! The online registration will allow you to easily register yourself or a group of volunteers. (Names not needed - only the total number of volunteers are required.)

There are two check-in locations for volunteering, the main Springfield Township Fire Station at 9150 Winton Road and the Pleasant Run Farms neighborhood swim club.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of the Pleasant Run Farms projects, check-in is at the pool at 8:30 a.mAll other volunteers should check in at the fire station located at 9150 Winton Road anytime between 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Both locations will include a light breakfast and a free Great American Cleanup t-shirts (while supplies last). Volunteers will work from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

To make the greatest impact, our goal to have 150 volunteers out in the community for three hours. With your help, this goal will be achievable and YOU can make the difference!

Supplies provided at check-in will include trash bags, directions and plastic gloves. Please bring your own work gloves. Litter sticks, shovels and rakes would be helpful.

*We will work in light rain. If there is heavy rain, we ask that volunteers check in at regular time, pick up supplies and select a project. In this case, volunteers can complete their project within the week and report their results to the Township by Monday, May 20th .
